European alternatives to MyFitnessPal

MyFitnessPal lost 900M users in a year after the Mitsui acquisition. European users leave for three reasons: data sovereignty, feature bloat, and pricing creep.

Fitatu and Yazio offer the same calorie tracking with photo recognition—stronger on AI, stronger on privacy (no US processing). Lifesum adds personalized meal planning if users need structure. Matkalkylen wins for Swedish/EU users and foods—Nordic dairy, meatballs, fermented products that MyFitnessPal logs wrong.
