European alternatives to Dockwa
Dockwa dominates US booking but has no EU data centers, no GDPR compliance, and charges per-booking commissions. European marinas need different economics and data sovereignty.
Dockwa's model is a US consumer-facing marketplace where boat owners discover and book berths at participating marinas, with Dockwa taking commission on each booking. It works for US coastal networks with transient traffic, but fails for EU operators: no EU infrastructure, no GDPR guarantees, commission-based pricing discourages adoption by marina operators (especially smaller harbours), and no integration with EU banking/tax systems. EU marinas care more about member/permanent billing, access control, and operational dashboards than attracting random walk-in boaters across a continent.
EU alternatives split into two categories: booking marketplaces (Mooringo, Seasy, mySea, BoatSpace) and operational platforms (Harba, Marina Master, Smart Waters, Marina Ahoy, Harbour Assist, SupaSailing, BlueShell, Sense4Boat, Marinapy, Autlio). Marketplaces address discovery but still lack operational depth. Operational platforms serve the real EU needβunified management of permanent/member billing, berths, guests, and staff. Dockwa tries to be both but optimizes for neither in Europe.

Our honest take
EU marinas leaving Dockwa face two choices. If they need a booking marketplace with EU data: Seasy (commission-based, 600+ Mediterranean marinas, GDPR-native Austria), BoatSpace (no per-booking commission, high utilization gains, Greece), or Mooringo (two-sided boater-to-harbour marketplace, Scandinavia-strong). If they need operational management (billing, access, team): Harba (40,000+ boaters, 150+ marinas, integrated invoicing), Harbour Assist (unified CRM+billing, all-inclusive pricing, no per-user fees), or Marinapy (quick setup, all-in-one, freemium for <100 slips).
Marina OS is weaker than Dockwa on consumer reachβit is not a marketplace and builds no boater traffic. It is stronger for EU harbours wanting EU-hosted operations without US commission economics. Marina OS fits EU SME marinas wanting lean management without booking-platform overhead. It loses to Harba and Harbour Assist on scale and features. It loses to Seasy and BoatSpace if marinas want a booking side. It only wins for the specific need: EU-hosted, operational (not discovery), low-cost, no marketplace bloat.
